01Overview

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Mane Characters online shop and website at manecharacters.org, operated by Mane Characters, Inc., doing business as Mane Characters Equine Reserve & Retirement, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 93-2962199) based in Paris, Kentucky. By placing an order or sponsoring a horse, you agree to these terms.

02Orders & Payment

All prices are listed in U.S. dollars. Payment is processed securely through the payment method(s) offered at checkout. We do not store your full card details on our servers.

Placing an order is an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, including in cases of pricing errors or product unavailability. If we cancel an order after payment, you'll be notified and refunded promptly.

03Shipping & Delivery

Physical goods ship from our farm in Paris, Kentucky, typically within 3–5 business days. Delivery estimates are provided at checkout and are not guaranteed. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your order and destination.

04Returns & Refunds

If something isn't right with your order, contact us at info@manecharacters.org and we'll make it right. We accept returns of unworn, unwashed merchandise in original condition — reach out and we'll walk you through the process. Custom or personalized embroidery is final sale unless defective.

05Sponsorships & Donations

Horse sponsorships are charitable contributions and are non-refundable. Sponsoring a horse does not confer ownership, guardianship, visitation rights, or any legal interest in the animal. Recurring sponsorships continue until cancelled through your account or by contacting us. Donations and sponsorships are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law; consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

06Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Let us know right away if you suspect unauthorized use. You must be 18 or older to make a purchase.

07Intellectual Property

The Mane Characters name, logo, photography, and site content belong to Mane Characters, Inc. and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used commercially without our written permission.

08Animal Welfare & Content

Horse names, stories, and images shared in our shop and on this site are true to our best knowledge, shared for storytelling and stewardship — not as veterinary or professional advice. We do not sell, trade, or profit from the animals in our care.

09Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mane Characters, Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our shop or site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the product or contribution giving rise to the claim.

10Privacy

Your use of our shop and site is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We store donor and customer data securely and never sell your personal information.

11Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
