Declan
Hello, my name is Declan. I’m a magnificent gray Thoroughbred gelding, born February 17, 2009, right here at Mane Characters in Kentucky, 16 hands of gentle spirit with a striking white blaze. I had a successful racing career before a minor injury led to my early retirement.
Mane Characters welcomed me back to the very farm where I was born, and it felt like coming full circle. I’m known as a calm, kind ambassador, great with visitors and kids who come to meet me. I love being groomed, strolling the pastures, and just being part of this loving community. Starship Kitty seems sweet on me (though she gives me a flirty nip now and then!). From the racetrack to peaceful retirement on my home soil, this is the life I was meant to live. Every Horse A Tale To Tell… and mine came home to where it all began.

Declan was supposed to run his final race at Suffolk Downs on July 7, 2019 but there were not enough horses entered for the race to go off.
